| Health Care in Florida: Differences in Home Health Aid, CNA and Med-Tech For decades folks retiring from somewhere else in the USA managed to find the delight of year-round sunshine to their liking. Millions have relocated to Florida’s retirement areas, one of which is the wonderful community of Spring Hill, Florida. Spring Hill enjoys a vast population of those at or above retirement age. Many a couple saw Florida’s moderate climate beneficial and viewed the many lakes and coastlines as a boon to their enjoying water sports. In addition, an abundance of golf courses allows many to recreate this way from January thru December. When Moms and Dads typically removed from their children, a common issue is that when the aging parents suffer disease and disability, the children are often far away. My advice, get the children involved as soon as possible so that if issues of care or relocation crop up, the offspring can begin attacking the issues early on. The three care givers mentioned in the title come into play based on the severity of the situation. Just as an injury or illness is treated first by your family doctor, an increase in severity or needed treatment may demand a specialist. The same is true in these three professions. -Home Health Aid Jane Doe is starting to have difficulty in moving around the house and doing chores she did when younger. If her setbacks in being able to provide her own care are minor, a Home Health Aid can fill the bill. The Home Health Aid provides assistance that is basically NOT hands on. This means the aid is there to help in the most basic ways; laundry, house cleaning, running errands. The Home Health Aid does not take vitals (blood pressure, temperature, etc.), or give baths but can cook meals. Most Home Health Aids receive training in dietary planning so they are well equipped to offer nutritional balances for their client. The Aid cannot dispense medications. -Certified Nursing Assistant
