Everyday Heroes Remember when little Jessica fell down a well years back. TV coverage showed
average citizens stepping up to aid in her rescue. When you park in the rear of the old K-mart parking lot you pass the Farmers Market tent as soon as you enter the Vendor area. There on the ground are two large cardboard boxes labeled “Product of My Neighborhood”. This is the charitable group for whom Tammy and Jodi make collections for the needy. Jodi tells the Free Reader that around Thanksgiving her daughter felt something could be done for the needy. Jodi and Tammy latched onto the concept and now actively seek such donations. They don’t have to do this. It is something they want to do. So far the Farmers Market activity has garnered about 6 carloads of goods for the “Product of My Neighborhood” group. This organization serves those with low income, shut-ins, schools and even the homeless living in wooded areas. If you travel to the Farmers Market at 2450 U.S. 19, just south of the Timber Pines entrance, how about giving these two girls an assist. The Farmers Market operates on Saturdays from 10 am to 3 pm. What they need: Food, warm clothing, undergarments, socks, coats, tents, tarps, blankets. You probably won’t see Tammy and Jodi’s name in lights anytime in your future. But it’s just another example of everyday folks stepping up and doing something important. For more info: www.hernandocountyfarmersmarket.webs.com
